CHICKEN FRIES IN AIR FRYER

These crispy air fryer chicken fries are a healthier way to enjoy the craveable taste of deep-fried chicken tenders without all the oil. Boneless, skinless chicken breasts are cut into long strips, dredged in seasoned flour and eggs, then coated in crispy breadcrumbs. The breaded chicken strips get arranged in the air fryer basket in a single layer and air fried at 400°F until golden brown and crunchy on the outside while staying juicy inside. In just 8-10 minutes, you'll have a batch of piping hot chicken fries ready for dipping into your favorite sauces like ranch, honey mustard or barbecue. Using the air fryer gives you that irresistible fried chicken texture and flavor with a fraction of the fat and mess.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb chicken breast cut into ½-inch thick strips (450g)
  • 2 large eggs beaten
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour 125g
  • 1 ½ cups panko breadcrumbs 150g
  • Vegetable or canola oil for misting or drizzling
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

Instructions
 

  • Cut chicken breasts into ½-inch thick strips, similar to french fries.
  • Set up breading station - place flour in one bowl, beaten eggs in another bowl, and breadcrumbs mixed with seasonings in a third bowl.
  • Dredge chicken strips in flour, dip in egg, then coat thoroughly in breadcrumb mixture.
  • Arrange breaded strips in a single layer on a baking sheet or tray and mist or drizzle with oil.
  • Place strips in air fryer basket in single layer without overlapping.
  • Air fry at 400°F for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway through, until chicken is fully cooked and breading is crispy.

Notes

  • For extra crispy chicken fries, mist with additional oil halfway through cooking.
  • Check internal temperature with a meat thermometer to ensure chicken reaches 165°F.
  • Serve hot with desired dipping sauces.
