A white plate with three of Grandma's fudgy chocolate brownies stacked unevenly on a white surface. The brownies have a shiny, crackly top with moist and dense interiors visible. The background is blurred, highlighting the close-up view of the tempting treats.

Grandma's Brownies

This batch of brownies is reminiscent of my grandma's classic recipe—crispy on the surface, with a wonderfully soft and sweet interior!

Ingredients

  • 190 g 0.83 cups all-purpose flour
  • 38 g 0.17 cups unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 7 g 0.67 teaspoons baking powder
  • 3.8 g 0.34 teaspoons salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 300 g 1.33 cups granulated sugar
  • 113 g 0.5 cups melted butter, slightly cooled
  • 15 ml 1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
  • 150 g 0.66 cups semisweet chocolate chunks

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking pan with cooking spray or butter.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt until well combined. Set aside.
  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk the eggs, sugar, melted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth and well incorporated.
  • Gradually stir the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, mixing until just combined and no dry pockets remain.
  • Gently pour in the semisweet chocolate chunks, being careful not to overmix.
  • Transfer the brownie batter to the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly.
  • Bake for approximately 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with moist crumbs clinging to it.

Notes

  • For fudgier brownies, reduce baking time by 2-3 minutes.
  • Chopped nuts like walnuts or pecans can be added for extra crunch.
  • Let the brownies cool completely before cutting into squares for cleaner edges.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
