Servings 8 garlic knots

Ingredients

Dough:

  • 460 g 3 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 7 g 1 teaspoon instant yeast
  • 6 g 1 teaspoon salt
  • 35 g 2 ½ tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 5 ml 1 teaspoon soy lecithin
  • 330 ml 1 ⅓ cups warm water

Garlic Butter:

  • 75 g ⅓ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 15 cloves garlic minced
  • 6 g 1 teaspoon garlic salt
  • 80 ml ⅓ cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • 55 g ¼ cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, yeast, salt, and sugar. Mix well.
  • Create a small well in the center and add the soy lecithin.
  • Gradually pour in the warm water while mixing with a dough hook until a smooth dough forms, pulling away from the bowl sides, about 2 minutes.
  • Cover the dough and let it rest for 30 minutes.
  • On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to ¼-inch thickness. Cut it in half lengthwise, then slice each half into strips.
  • Take each strip and tie it into a knot, tucking the ends underneath. Place the knotted dough pieces in a greased 9x13-inch baking pan.
  • In a small bowl, combine the melted butter, minced garlic, garlic salt, chopped parsley, and Parmesan cheese. Mix well.
  • Allow the knots to rise for 15-30 minutes.
  • Brush the knots with half of the garlic butter mixture.
  • Bake at 400°F for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
  • Remove from oven and brush with remaining garlic butter.
  • Serve warm with marinara sauce for dipping.

Notes

  • For a softer texture, use bread flour instead of all-purpose.
  • Add ¼ teaspoon dried oregano or Italian seasoning to the garlic butter for extra flavor.
  • Brush the knots with garlic butter again after baking for an intense garlic aroma.
  • Sprinkle with extra Parmesan cheese before serving if desired.
  • Let the dough rise for up to an hour for an even fluffier texture.
